Watch your life

That was the topic of the sermon Sunday morning, delivered by author and speaker, Gary Thomas. It was quite good. As most of you weren't there, I'd like to give you the synopsis as something to think about as we enter this Lent season.

He talked about three areas of our lives that we need to watch closely. First up, was the spiritual aspect. He summed up each area with a question, and the question he asked here was "How's your prayer life?" The second area was the personal aspect. His question here was "Are you cooperating with the devil and his schemes?" When you are tempted by sin, do you run away? Or do you put up your dukes and try to fight it? The last area was the relational aspect. He asked us: "Are you cultivating wise relationships with people who will support you?" In this area, he also asked us to consider disengaging from unhealthy relationships and embracing healthy ones.

The underlying question to the entire message was this:
Is it wise?
The relationships that you participate in. The things you say. The actions that you take. Oftentimes, the first question we ask ourselves is "Is it sin?" But he talked about taking that one step further and always considering whether or not what we are doing is wise. Something to think about.
