Pittsburgh

Went to Pittsburgh last weekend. Good times with some good people. If you're ever in town, check out The Strip District. It's way cool with all sorts of various tasty treats available.

Here's a few photos from my adventure:

It was a day like any other...

Except that I woke up at 10:15am and that I woke up in a house a block from the beach.  But that's not what makes this morning memorable.  This morning, I officially began my training for the Harrisburg Half-Marathon.  In the next thirteen weeks, there will only be 27 days that I'm not running.  I'll be running five out of seven days each week.  Hooray for challenges!

And this will be a challenge.  More so because I'll be running BEFORE work during the week.  And when you have to be at work at 7:30am, it makes for an early morning.

So I've got my first training run in the books.  Only 64 more runs till race day.  Look for another update from me in a couple of weeks.

I went to New York City....Again

Another day, another trip to the Big Apple. I got to spend a few hours in the big city. Only eight hours and so much to see....

This trip I wanted to check out one of the more popular farmer's markets (they're known as "Greenmarkets" in the city). It was located in Union Square. I had read a little about the market, but what I read gave me no clue about what would await me. This market is probably the best farmers market that I've ever encountered. There were all sorts of vendors there selling everything from maple syrup to pheasant eggs to cheese. I was really impressed. So many baked goods, so little time!!

We also hit up Otto for dinner. Had some pretty decent pizza and some Olive Oil gelato. That gelato was awesome. I'll have to get some of that again the next time I'm in the city.

Here's a few photos that I took at the Greenmarket:

Uh oh, he's talking crazy again....

It's been a while since I mentioned anything related to high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). I know, I know.....

I'll make this quick. Starbucks is removing HFCS from it's products. So naturally, they put out a press release to let people know. But they weren't the only ones to put out a press release. Take a peek at the releases below and tell me which one you think is from Starbucks, and which one isn't.

Hillsong United - 01 June 09

Last night, I drove down to Columbia, MD to see Hillsong United. From what I know of them, they don't do a lot of touring so I wanted to try and see them when they were in the "two-hour drive" area.

Good stuff. I drove down without a ticket and ended up getting into the show with a free ticket. God is good! And obviously, there was some great music. It was thoroughly refreshing to be worshiping the Creator of the universe with thousands of other people.

And not only was their some great music, but there was a great word. The youth pastor shared how we as Christians are to be "agents of change" here on earth. How we should be constantly striving to bring heaven to earth, not just in our actions, but in our mindset as well. He talked about the peace that we should have amidst all that's going on this world. We need to be medicine to the world around us. To let people know that there is a better way. We don't need to worry. The only fear that we should be in our hearts is the fear of the Lord. A good word indeed.

If you get a chance, check out their new record "A_cross/the Earth." It's good.
