Fat Tuesday

Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent.

I like to do something for Lent, which usually consists of giving up something that I enjoy as a form of sacrifice. I've decided to forego sweets until Easter. This pretty much means no cookies or other desserts. It also includes sweet tea.

A lot of folks don't put a lot of stock into making Lent a participatory season. Over the last several years, I have found that participating makes me more aware of Christ's sacrifice. I have a Lenten devotional that I picked up several years ago at a local church that I use to help focus myself.

Will you be doing anything for Lent? If not, please at least devote some time to examining your heart as we approach the crucifixtion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

How to celebrate your birthday.

Reason #29:

Some friends and I headed out to Hershey's Chocolate World over the weekend. They were kind enough to grant me a birthday wish that involved trying all sorts of fun desserts. We took a gander at all the goodies at the Scharfenberger Cafe (this may or may not be the actual name of the place we ate at) and decided on: Peanut Butter Pie, a Dark Chocolate Brownie, Dark Chocolate Mousse, Peanut Butter Chocolate Pastry and a Dark Chocolate Raspberry Pastry. That's the goodies up above. There were three of us, so we split up each dessert into three pieces and we tried them all. It was all good, but the Raspberry Pastry stood out to me as the best. And to be honest, we couldn't even make it to the brownie, which we had left for last. We ended up cutting it into the three pieces and then taking them home for the next day.
